How Does Bluegreen Vacations Work? A Plain-English Owner Overview

Quick Answer

Bluegreen Vacation Club is points-based. Your contract gives you an annual allotment of points equal to the chart cost of what you own, and you spend them at any resort the charts allow. General points reservations can be made up to 11 months before check-in; the 13-month Priority Reservation window applies only to the specific segment and unit number tied to your membership. You pay maintenance fees every year whether you travel or not, and eligible owners can book Bonus Time cash stays, without points, within 45 days by phone or 48 days online, subject to availability.

The Short Version

Bluegreen Vacation Club is a points-based vacation ownership program. You don't book "your week" at "your resort". You get points every year and spend them across the club's resorts using each resort's points chart. This overview covers the moving parts. Each section links to a deeper guide.

1. Ownership: Where Your Points Come From

Your annual points aren't an allowance the club picked. They equal the chart booking cost of the exact unit, resort and week (or weeks) your contracts cover. Own more than one contract and the points add together.

You don't have to use your points where they came from. They can go toward any stay the charts allow: a longer stay in a smaller unit, a short stay in a bigger one, or a different resort entirely.

2. Points Charts: What a Stay Costs

Every resort publishes a points chart by unit size and season. Bigger units cost more points, peak seasons cost more than off-peak, and weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) typically cost more than weekdays. Multiply the nightly points by your nights, or use the full-week price for a week-long stay.

You can see the charts for every resort in the Resort Explorer.

3. Your Use Year: Saving and Borrowing

Points reset each Use Year. If you won't use them all, you can usually save points once to carry them forward one more year, or borrow from next year's allotment to top up a booking. Saved points still expire if you don't use them, and borrowed points reduce next year's balance. Deadlines and fees apply, so check with Bluegreen for current terms.

4. Booking Windows

  • Priority Reservations may be booked 13 months before check-in, but only for the specific segment and unit number tied to your membership. If you don't reserve before the general 11-month window opens, that priority is relinquished. It isn't general early access to everything at your home resort.
  • General points reservations can be made up to 11 months before check-in. Availability and the club's rules still apply.

The most in-demand resorts and seasons go first, so booking the day your window opens can be the difference between getting the trip and not.

5. Maintenance Fees

You pay maintenance fees every year whether you travel or not. They're set by your resort's budget (staffing, insurance, property taxes and reserves) and have historically gone up over time.

A useful way to think about it: divide your annual fees and dues by your points to get your cost per point. Owner-reported FY2026 bills in Trust Fund E work out to about 12–17¢ per point a year, all in. Any use of points that returns less than that loses money on paper.

6. Bonus Time

Bonus Time lets eligible owners book cash stays without using points, up to 45 days before check-in by phone or 48 days online. Pono Kai and La Cabana are exceptions at 90 days by phone or 93 days online. Stays are subject to availability and eligibility. Only owners on the Owner Beneficiary Agreement can use Bonus Time; they can't send guests in their place. Memberships acquired on the secondary market after February 2007 are limited to Bonus Time at their associated resort. Source: Road Map to Great Vacations; confirm current terms in the owner portal. It's one of the easiest ways to travel more without spending your allotment. On the owner site you choose between a Points Reservation and a Bonus Time Reservation.

7. Beyond Bluegreen Resorts

  • RCI: Bluegreen partners with RCI, so you can deposit points and exchange them for stays at resorts worldwide. RCI exchange fees apply. See the RCI exchange calculator.
  • HGV Max: An optional membership that connects Bluegreen, Hilton Grand Vacations and Hilton Vacation Club resorts. Joining requires a new points purchase. See Is HGV Max Worth It?
  • HGV Hub: Cruises, car rentals and more for Max members. See How to Use HGV Hub.

Bluegreen Owner FAQ

Where is the Bluegreen owner login?

Bluegreen's official owner site is bluegreenowner.com. That's where you sign in to see your points, book Points or Bonus Time reservations, and view your maintenance fees and club dues. This site isn't affiliated with Bluegreen and can't access your account.

What are my Bluegreen points worth?

A point has two values: what it costs you each year to carry, and what it buys when you spend it. For most Trust Fund E owners, carrying cost is about 12–17¢ per point a year, and a resort stay is usually where points do best. See What Is a Bluegreen Point Worth?

How do I book a Bluegreen vacation?

Sign in at bluegreenowner.com and use the reservation search; current contact information is in the owner portal. General points reservations can be made up to 11 months before check-in. The 13-month Priority Reservation window covers only the specific segment and unit number tied to your membership. Eligible owners can book Bonus Time cash stays, without points, within 45 days by phone or 48 days online (90 by phone or 93 online at Pono Kai and La Cabana), subject to availability.

How do Bluegreen maintenance fees work?

You pay them every year based on your resort's budget, whether or not you travel. Some Premier tiers can put points toward fees, but usually at a low value per point. Check with Bluegreen for your current bill and options.
